imbarazz is a free civic reporting app for the Maltese islands — because spotting a fly-tip and driving past it should never feel like the only option.
Like everyone on these islands, I spent years watching the same fly-tips sit untouched and the same illegal dumps appear with no accountability and no easy way to do anything about it.
The idea for imbarazz came to me a long time ago — a quick, easy way for anyone to photograph a littered spot, pin it on a map, and make it visible to the people who can act on it. I sat on it for years, not having the technical background to build it. Eventually I built it anyway. No external funding. No team. Just one person who got tired of driving past the same fly-tip.
Your report appears on the public map immediately — visible to everyone.
A pre-written email with your photo and GPS coordinates goes directly to ERA and Malta Public Cleansing.
Photo, GPS, optional nickname. No email, no phone number, no account. Your data is never sold or shared.
No ads, no premium tiers, no plans to introduce them. imbarazz is a civic tool, not a business.
It does not clean anything upCleanups happen when volunteers or authorities act on reports.
It cannot force authorities to actPublic visibility is the lever — imbarazz has no enforcement power.
It is not a government toolIndependent, privately built, not affiliated with any authority or council.
It cannot guarantee response timesHow quickly a report is acted on depends on the relevant authority.
The data dashboard is built entirely from verified official sources. Every statistic is cited. If a figure is an estimate, it is labelled as one. imbarazz will never publish a number it cannot source.
